CHOC Needs Your Assistance, Here’s How You Can Help

CHOC aims to save lives through early detection and lessening the burden on those affected by childhood cancer, through comprehensive support programmes.

This non-profit organisation is made up of caring, committed people who support and advocate for the well-being of children and teenagers diagnosed with cancer or life-threatening blood disorders and their families.

At any one time, CHOC can have over 1500 children and teenagers in their care

CHOC has a national office in Johannesburg, and six regional offices offering services and support to the nine provinces of South Africa. The Nelson Mandela Bay Branch of the organisation is saturated in Conyngham Road Parsons Hill.

As with all branches, they supply emotional support as well as palliative, end-of-life care and bereavement support to those affected by childhood cancer.

Practical support for patients and families includes essential Carebags, nutritional food support, bereavement support, accommodation, transport to and from treatments and education and awareness programmes on the early warning signs of childhood cancer.

The Hope Network is a group of volunteers who create awareness and conversation around CHOC and Childhood Cancer, ensuring that the organisation remains sustainable. 

Take Part in the CHOC Cow Initiative

What started in 2008 as a challenge to raise R60,000 for CHOC resulted in the group raising more than R230,000 that year. Ten years later, thousands of people have participated in events wearing cow kits. The Cows have raised over R31 million and The Cows brand is prominent in many sporting events in South Africa.
