Earth Hour 2025 is your chance to dedicate 60 minutes to the planet while enjoying a magical evening under the stars. On 22 March 2025, WWF South Africa is bringing an unforgettable cinema experience to the beautiful Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens in Johannesburg, in partnership with the South African National Biodiversity Institute and the City of Johannesburg.
It’s a family-friendly event, so bring your camping chairs, picnic blankets, and snacks—or treat yourself to something delicious from the food trucks on-site. The highlight of the evening? A special screening of ‘Happy Feet’, a heartwarming animated film perfect for both kids and adults.
A Global Movement for the Planet
Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007 and has since grown into one of the largest global environmental campaigns. Every year, millions of people from over 190 countries take part by switching off their lights and engaging in eco-friendly activities. In 2024, WWF encouraged participants worldwide to spend their Earth Hour contributing to positive environmental change—whether through sustainable habits, community projects, or online activism.
