The global phenomenon that’s lit up cities from Paris to Tokyo is finally making its Eastern Cape debut – and it’s bringing thousands of candles with it.

Candlelight®, the multisensory live music series that reimagines classical music for a new generation, is coming to Gqeberha. And trust us – this is not your average night out.
Starting 19 July, the historic Feather Market Centre will be transformed into a breathtaking, intimate concert venue bathed in candlelight. The series will also light up Durban’s Playhouse Company from 26 July—marking the first time these cities join the over 150 others that have already been wowed by this unique experience.
What’s Candlelight, exactly?
It’s classical music, but not like you’ve heard it before.
Presented by global entertainment platform Fever, Candlelight concerts combine live performance, atmospheric settings, and thousands of flickering candles to create an immersive musical experience that’s both deeply nostalgic and completely fresh.
Forget stiff concert halls and tuxedoed crowds—these shows are designed to be accessible, moving, and unforgettable. Think Vivaldi’s Four Seasons or a sweeping tribute to Queen, performed live under a sea of candlelight in one of Gqeberha’s most iconic buildings.
And for the Eastern Cape’s debut? They’re going big.

Why This Is a Big Deal for the Bay
Candlelight has performed in some of the most iconic venues on Earth – Niagara Falls, the Eiffel Tower, the Burj Al Arab in Dubai – and now, it’s Gqeberha’s turn.
What sets this experience apart is its ability to bridge the gap between past and present, attracting classical music lovers and newcomers alike. One night might feature Mozart or Chopin, the next could bring reimagined versions of hits by Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, or ABBA – all performed by top-tier local musicians.
Fever is also known for spotlighting local talent, giving artists the chance to shine on a global stage while sharing the cultural essence of their city with the world.
