KARIEGA-based small business owners are invited to join Bizznet 101’s first small business expo taking place Friday, July 14 at Babs Madlakane Hall in Kwanobuhle.
Bizznet 101 is a newly registered NPC based in Kariega planting a seed in businesses, be there to care for and nurture it into a blooming seedling that grows into a sustainable business and continue to water that plant by supporting each other, learning and growing together so we can inspire others to do the same
The idea is the brainchild of Bizznet founder Nosipho Marayi, who says she realised that all the networking events were happening in gqeberha leaving a gap in the Kariega entrepreneurship market.
After 26 years in the corporate world, Marayi decided to start an accounting, taxation and consulting business from home.
“As someone attending a lot of network events in PE and mostly getting to meet businesses based in GQ and none from Kariega, I saw a huge gap and potential for a local group, it was then that the idea of ‘making our community businesses great again’ and reviving the spirit of Ubuntu in and around our community was birthed,” she said.
The event day will commence with an informal network session from 9 am followed by presentations and Q&A.
Although Marayi does not see herself as a “natural networker” she believes that she has seen the benefit of collaboration and networking in business and hopes to help others benefit from this lesson.”
“It’s all about that 1st hello and what you say after the hello.
“I believe business does not exist outside or in isolation from networking but we are not all natural networkers, it’s a skill that can be taught and very important for making it in the entrepreneurial space,” she said.
Marayi says that she is on her own journey of learning and growing and hopes to plant a seed in others with the help of networking events such as this one.
“We have very successful entrepreneurs in this town that I believe could plough back home and inspire and mentor those starting out or already in business but need growth,” she said
Small businesses can register to exhibit for R200 a stand/table and prepare a 1-minute pitch to market themselves to other businesses and patrons, as this will be free and open to the public
Business can also partner with Bizznet 101 and sponsor prizes for lucky draws and giveaways, which acts as an opportunity to market themselves.
In turn, sponsors will be included in marketing material as well as featured on Mpuma-Kapa TV.
Marayi says that the business expo is just the start of what Bizznet 101 hopes to achieve. They will be taking on members for a nominal yearly fee so local businesses can take advantage of the skills, knowledge and mentoring
“This is our 1st event and the aim is to get businesses in the area to market themselves, hear about other business opportunities and access information from stakeholders like DoL, EDTA, and SEDA to name a few,” she said
The event shall be held on Friday, the 14th of July 2023 at Babs Madlakane Hall located on Matanzima Road, Kwanobuhle from 09h00 to 16h00.
