Boardwalk Gets Ready for a Full Festive Season in Nelson Mandela Bay

As the festive season settles into Nelson Mandela Bay, Boardwalk Casino and Hotel is lining up a series of events aimed at giving locals plenty of reasons to gather, celebrate and enjoy the end of the year together.

From live music and family-friendly concerts to Christmas Day dining and a New Year’s Eve countdown, the Boardwalk International Convention Centre becomes a central hub for December celebrations.

A Big Night of Local Entertainment

Festive celebrations kick off on Saturday, 20 December with The Biggest Showcase GQ, headlined by Mujahid George. Known to many as both an actor and presenter, George brings his musical talents to the stage alongside Emo Adams, Loukmaan Adams, Don Vino Prins and The Black Ties.

The evening promises a mix of strong vocals, humour and high-energy performances, offering a night out that leans heavily into local talent and big personality.

The show starts at 8pm at the Boardwalk International Convention Centre, with tickets available via Webtickets ranging from R190 to R270.

Christmas Day Around the Table

For families planning to spend Christmas Day together without the stress of cooking, Boardwalk will be hosting a Christmas Day Lunch on Thursday, 25 December, from 12pm to 3pm.

Under the guidance of Chef Willie Mcotoyi, guests can expect a generous buffet that includes welcome drinks, soups, sushi, starters, hot mains, a carvery featuring turkey and gammon, and a selection of desserts.

The lunch will be hosted at both the Boardwalk International Convention Centre and The Pantry. The cost is R600 per person, with children under four eating for free and children aged five to twelve paying R300. Bookings can be made through Sindi Reed via email or phone.

A Family-Focused Christmas Concert

Music returns to the stage on Monday, 22 December, when the Bala Family brings their first Christmas concert to Gqeberha.

Featuring Zwai, Loyiso, Mam’V, Pinky and Phelo, alongside the younger generation of the Bala family, the concert offers a celebration rooted in family, faith and togetherness. The programme includes Christmas carols, gospel, inspirational songs and afro-soul interpretations, all performed in a shared family setting.

The concert takes place at 6pm at the Boardwalk International Convention Centre. Tickets cost R350 and are available from Webtickets and Pick n Pay.

Counting Down to 2026

The year wraps up with a New Year’s Eve Buffet Dinner on Wednesday, 31 December, starting from 8pm and running into the early hours of 2026.

Guests can expect a festive dining experience paired with music, laughter and the familiar excitement of the countdown. Tickets are priced at R600 per person, with bookings essential and available directly through Boardwalk.

As December unfolds, Boardwalk’s festive programme offers a mix of entertainment, food and shared moments, giving Bay locals a few more ways to mark the season close to home.

Whether it is a night of live music, a Christmas meal with family, or ringing in the New Year together, the emphasis this festive season is firmly on gathering and celebrating.
