Baywest Mall will celebrate Women’s Month with a major fashion showcase featuring more than 50 looks, 42 models and collections from leading retailers and Nelson Mandela University designers.
The Big on Style Baywest Fashion Showcase will take place at the mall’s Centre Court from 11:00 to 13:00 on Saturday, 8 August 2026.
The multi-tenant runway event promises to offer visitors much more than fashion inspiration. Guests can look forward to pampering, prizes and interactive experiences designed to celebrate women and the many stories they represent.
The first 30 attendees will also receive goody bags filled with discounts and sponsored items.
More than 50 looks on the runway
Baywest Mall’s Centre Court will be transformed into a professionally choreographed runway featuring 42 models, more than 50 looks and 10 individually curated scenes.
The showcase will feature clothing and accessories from several Baywest Mall retailers, including Edgars, Foschini, Legit, Contempo, Jet, Exact, Jam Clothing, Miladys, Relay Jeans, Refinery, Markham, Clothing Junction and Tekkie Town.
The event will end with a dedicated bridal showcase featuring the work of a leading local designer.
Produced by The G.O.A.T Group, choreographed by Sophisticate Models and hosted by Algoa FM presenter Roch-Lé Bloem, the production will celebrate women across different ages, shapes and backgrounds.
“This is not a fashion show about clothes. It is a fashion show about women, every shape, every age, every story,” said owner of The G.O.A.T Group and Production Manager of event Delon le Roux.
NMU archival collection joins the showcase
The Nelson Mandela University Department of Visual Arts will present its archival capsule collection, Smoulder, during the event.
The collection features garments by Pumelela Mlenze, a fashion and textile designer, NMU Fashion Design Department staff member and alumnus of the university’s Department of Visual Arts.
According to the organisers, this will be the first time an NMU archival collection has been incorporated into a commercial retail fashion event at Baywest Mall.
Flowers, affirmations and prizes
Beyond the runway, visitors will have several interactive Women’s Month experiences to enjoy.
The Big on Blooms Flower Cart will allow shoppers to select flowers and create their own bouquets, while a mirror selfie station will provide a setting for capturing photographs from the day.
Visitors will also be invited to contribute to the Big on Inspiration Installation Wall by writing words of affirmation and appreciation for other women.
Baywest Mall Marketing Manager Lindsay Davies said the additional activities were created to make the event a broader celebration of womanhood.
Attendees will also stand a chance to win lucky draw prizes from Baywest Mall stores and businesses, including Execuspecs, Aldo, Habibi, Indalo Spa, MAC and Standard Beauty.
