Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer 2026 Beneficiary Applications Now Open

Non-profit organisations supporting cancer patients and their families across the Eastern Cape and Garden Route are being invited to apply to become beneficiaries of the 2026 Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer, presented by ISUZU Motors South Africa.

Now in its 28th year, the Big Walk for Cancer has become one of the region’s most recognised charity events, bringing together communities while raising funds for organisations doing critical, often life-changing work in the cancer space.

A Platform That Extends Beyond the Walk

The 2026 event will take place on Saturday, 31 October, with the main walk hosted in Nelson Mandela Bay and parallel events happening in Buffalo City and George on the same day.

Each year, selected beneficiary organisations receive funding that goes towards the purchase of technical equipment, helping them improve the level of care and support they can offer. Operational costs are not covered, which makes the funding particularly focused on long-term impact.

That impact was evident in last year’s initiative, where funds raised contributed towards life-saving equipment across the Eastern Cape, strengthening the capacity of organisations working directly with patients and families. Read last year’s coverage here

Who Should Apply

Organisations applying must have a strong presence within Algoa Country, which stretches from the Garden Route to the Wild Coast, and inland through the Karoo.

The focus is on non-profits actively supporting cancer patients and their families, particularly those involved in patient care, support services and community-based initiatives.

For many organisations, being selected as a beneficiary not only brings financial support, but also increased visibility and connection to a wider network of people who want to support the work being done.
