A New Era for Youth Radio in South Africa

011ONLINE

Johannesburg’s youth powerhouse YFM is stepping into a bold new era, unveiling its highly anticipated 2026 line-up that reflects the ever-evolving pulse of youth culture in South Africa.

Known for pushing boundaries and spotlighting fresh talent, the station continues to grow its influence both on-air and across digital platforms. This latest line-up signals a shift towards louder, sharper and more intentional content that speaks directly to its audience.

New Voices and Big Moves Across the Line-Up

One of the biggest changes comes to mid-mornings, where Karen Mthethwa takes over the 9 am to 12 pm slot with The Glow Up. Her move marks a fresh chapter for the show, while the station bids farewell to long-time presenter Xtremme after more than a decade on air.

Weekday nights are also getting an upgrade. Barbara ‘Baxbara’ Moagi joins Tulz Madala as co-host of Uncensored from 8 pm to 10 pm. The new duo is set to bring bold conversations and unfiltered energy to the show, following the departure of Dimpho Makgotho.

A Fresh Sound for Music Lovers

Hip hop fans can expect a new era on Sundays, with DJ Sliqe and Roiii taking over The Agenda from 7 pm to 10 pm. The show promises a deeper connection to the culture, spotlighting the sounds and stories shaping the genre right now.

Saturdays are also getting a refresh, with Munaka stepping into The Rizz from 5 pm to 6 pm, focusing on rising stars and what is trending in entertainment.

Adding to the weekend energy, Karma Karma Radio, hosted by Shimza, takes over Saturday nights, while KMass joins the daytime line-up.

Fan-Favourite Shows Stay Strong

Listeners can still expect the familiar energy of The Way Up with Nia Brown and Okay Wasabi, alongside Home Run with Ayanda MVP and Sinaye Kotobe. These flagship shows continue to anchor the station’s daily programming and remain favourites among audiences.

Club Y and Digital Expansion

Club Y continues to dominate both on air and in real life, returning with an expanded DJ line-up that includes DJ Tshegu alongside names like Shakes and Les, Ggoldie and DJ Pedabotic.

Beyond radio, YFM is growing its digital footprint with new shows like Money Talks hosted by Lerai and Uncool MC, which dives into amapiano culture. These additions form part of the station’s broader strategy to build a full-scale content network beyond traditional FM radio.

A Line-Up That Reflects the Culture

YFM Programme Manager Phindile Ziqubu says the new direction is all about staying connected to the audience.

“This line-up is a true reflection of where we are as a brand and where youth culture is going. 2026 is about being louder, bolder and more fearless than ever before.”

When It All Goes Live

The new YFM line-up officially goes live on Wednesday, 1 April 2026, with listeners able to tune in via the YFM app, online streaming, DStv Channel 859, OpenView HD or FM 99.2.

Final Word

With fresh voices, new formats and an expanded digital presence, YFM’s 2026 line-up is not just a programming update. It is a clear statement about where youth media in South Africa is headed next.
