We’re thrilled to introduce Leah Ramdeen, the creative force behind 031Focus – our new spotlight on Durban’s culture, community, and calendar.
Leah is a social media strategist for a Los Angeles-based marketing agency, but her heart (and home) is in KZN. A talented photographer, videographer, and proud dog mom, she brings her sharp, creative eye and local love to the 041online team. With Leah at the helm, expect curated chaos, captivating visuals, and a fresh take on everything the 031 has to offer.

July 5 – Hollywoodbets Durban July
Where: Greyville Racecourse, Durban
Why go: Africa’s most iconic horse-racing and fashion event is back in full gallop. With over 56,000 fans, a R3 million Grade 1 Handicap, and a showstopping theme — Marvels of Mzansi — it’s a spectacle of sport, style, and serious social buzz.
July 5–6 – Fact Durban Rocks
Where: People’s Park, Moses Mabhida Stadium
Line-up: DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small, Cassper Nyovest, Sjava, DJ Tira and more
Why go: It’s the 25th anniversary of one of Durban’s biggest party weekends. If you’re into amapiano, house, hip-hop, gqom or kwaito, this all-nighter is your vibe. Tickets range from R250 to R2500.
June 29–July 7 – East Coast Radio House & Garden Show
Where: Durban Exhibition Centre
Why go: KZN’s largest lifestyle expo brings home inspo, family fun, local makers, and plenty of chilled weekend energy under one roof.
July 22–24 – KZN Industrial Technology Exhibition (KITE)
Where: Durban ICC Exhibition Centre
Why go: The business crowd’s biggest mid-year must. Network with professionals, explore more than 500 exhibitors, and sit in on free seminars and live demos.
July 17 – G20 Finance & Central Bank Deputies Meeting
Where: The Capital Hotel, Zimbali
Why go: While it’s not open to the public, this elite summit will bring global attention to KZN – and likely, a few road closures. Plan accordingly.
All of July – The Sardine Run
Where: Along the coast from Durban to the South Coast
Why go: Thousands of sardines migrate along our coast, drawing dolphins, sharks, seabirds, and people with binoculars. Dubbed the Greatest Shoal on Earth, this natural phenomenon is one of South Africa’s wildest wonders.
