Finding Balance at Harmony Wellness Studio in Kariega

By Eleanor Douglas-Meyers

There’s something about Kariega, a kind of quiet hum that makes you exhale without realizing it. It’s the perfect setting for Harmony Wellness Studio, a serene space run by Gayratie Terblanche, where the focus isn’t just on feeling better, but on real healing, with mind, body, and spirit all in sync.

This past week, fellow 041Online team member Zaheerah Smith and I decided to try it out for ourselves. I’ll admit, we went in a bit unsure of what to expect. Between deadlines, content plans, and life in general, we both felt the kind of exhaustion you can’t just sleep off. We figured, if nothing else, it would be an hour of peace away from the noise. What we didn’t expect was just how deeply the experience would affect us.

A Morning of Firsts

The studio itself feels like stepping into a bubble of stillness. Soft lighting, calm music, and the scent of essential oils add to the humble yet comforting vibe. Gayratie welcomed us with warmth that instantly put us at ease. Before anything began, she sat us down for a chat, not a medical-style interview, but a genuine conversation about what’s been going on in our lives, how we’ve been feeling emotionally, and what kind of week we’ve had.

From there, we each experienced a combination of Rife Frequency Therapy, AcuDetox, and Access Bars.

For me, Eleanor, it hit fast. During the AcuDetox, a five-point ear acupuncture treatment, I felt the lightest flutter in my body, almost like waves. When the needles came out, I could still feel the points tingling. Then came the Rife Frequency Therapy, where subtle vibrations pulse through your body to help reset your energy frequencies. The sensation was gentle but unmistakable; at one point, I even got a tiny electric jolt that made me laugh out loud. Afterward, I felt floaty, like I’d just come up for air after being underwater for too long.

Zaheerah’s experience was different. She didn’t feel much at first, calm but unchanged. Then, hours later, she texted me: “I think it’s kicking in now.” Her anxiety had lifted, and she said she felt unexpectedly light and clear-headed. It was fascinating to see how our bodies processed the same treatments so differently, proof that, as Gayratie later told us, “Every person’s energy tells a different story.”

Gayratie’s Path to Healing

When we asked Gayratie how she got into wellness, her answer was beautifully honest. Years ago, she was diagnosed with endometriosis and chronic fatigue while raising three small children. That struggle became her wake-up call.

“I realized that if I wanted to be the kind of mom who was patient and present, I needed to take care of myself first,” she says. “Children don’t really learn from what we say, they learn from what they see.”

Her search for healing led her to the Ansari Holistic Healing Institute, where she trained in Emotional Healing, Energy Healing, and Sufi Rife Frequency Healing, eventually adding AcuDetox and Access Bars to her practice. What started as a personal journey evolved into Harmony Wellness Studio, a safe, nurturing space for others to experience the same kind of transformation.

“We are made of mind, heart, body, and spirit,” she explains. “When even one of those is out of balance, everything else follows. My goal is to help bring them back into harmony.”

A Studio That Feels Like a Hug

There’s something very grounding about being in Gayratie’s studio. The sessions aren’t rushed. There’s time to talk, breathe, and reconnect. Each treatment feels intentional, from the energy-balancing hum of the Rife machine to the gentle touch of the Access Bars points on your head. By the end, the space feels like it’s holding you together.

One thing that stood out to us both was how individual the experience felt. Gayratie doesn’t just apply a technique; she reads your energy, listens, and adjusts in real time.

“Every person is different,” she says. “Healing isn’t a one-size-fits-all process, it’s personal, and it should be gentle.”

Her favorite treatment is emotional healing work. “People carry so much, often without realizing it,” she adds softly. “Helping them release that, it’s a gift.”

Beyond the Studio Walls

When we asked her what she wishes more people understood about holistic wellness, her answer was simple: “Healing isn’t only about the body.”

Gayratie’s approach is deeply spiritual, rooted in her Sufi path. She credits her teachers, her Shaykh, Shaykha, and Khalifa, for their guidance, and her husband, Yaseen, for being her unwavering supporter.

“He’s my biggest cheerleader,” she laughs. “My quiet strength in the background and my very patient financial sponsor!”

You can feel that support reflected in the way she runs the studio: grounded, patient, and full of gratitude.

Experience It Yourself

Zaheerah and I left Harmony Wellness Studio feeling lighter, calmer, and strangely reconnected to ourselves. Whether it was the energy work, the deep breathing, or just the chance to slow down, something had shifted. As Gayratie put it, “Healing isn’t something you have to understand, it’s something you experience.”

If you’ve been curious, check out Harmony Wellness Studio on social media to learn more about their treatments. We’ll also be running a competition soon, so keep an eye out for your chance to experience a session yourself.

Zaheerah and I walked in curious and walked out changed, and maybe that’s the real magic of this humble little studio in Kariega.
