From cosplay competitions and gaming tournaments to K-pop performances, live wrestling and more than 100 stalls, Gqeberha is gearing up for a weekend of geek culture, creativity and entertainment.
Gqeberha’s geeks, gamers, cosplayers and pop culture enthusiasts, this one’s for you!
The Eastern Cape’s premium geek convention, CONect Geek Con Gqeberha, returns on Saturday, 7 and Sunday, 8 November 2026, promising two full days of fandom, fun and entertainment at the Fairview Sports Centre.
Whether you’re a dedicated gamer, an anime enthusiast, a comic book collector or someone who simply loves a good excuse to dress up as their favourite character, CONect is bringing together everything that makes geek culture so much fun.
And with more than 100 geek-themed stalls and food trucks, there will be plenty to explore throughout the weekend.
Cosplay, Creativity and Characters Come to Life
One of the biggest attractions at any geek convention is undoubtedly the cosplay, and CONect is giving fans plenty of opportunities to show off their creativity.
Visitors can look forward to cosplay competitions and appearances by guest cosplayers Ludos Cosplay and Geeki Gear.
From elaborate handmade costumes to recognisable characters from favourite films, games and anime series, the convention offers the perfect opportunity for fans to bring their fictional heroes and villains to life.
And even if you’re not planning to dress up yourself, there’s always something entertaining about seeing a superhero casually browsing a merchandise stall!
Gaming Fans, This One’s for You
For those who prefer their adventures with controllers, cards or dice, CONect has an exciting gaming line-up.
Fans of Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering can get involved in tournaments, while tabletop enthusiasts can enjoy Dungeons & Dragons (DND) sessions and other tabletop gaming experiences.
The programme also includes live-action role-playing (LARP) sessions, retro and console gaming, and LAN parties.
Whether you’re a competitive player or simply looking to discover a new hobby, there’s something for gamers of different interests and experience levels.
K-pop, Wrestling and Plenty of Entertainment
But CONect isn’t only about gaming and cosplay.
The weekend’s entertainment programme includes live wrestling showdowns, a K-pop dance experience where visitors can learn some moves, and a K-pop Demon Hunters dance performance.
There will also be live entertainment, a masquerade and spot prizes to add to the excitement.
And for those who prefer a slightly quieter experience, the convention has a few unexpected additions, including a Silent Book Club and a Secret Sunrise experience.
It’s a wonderfully varied programme that shows just how broad the world of geek culture has become.
More Than 100 Stalls to Explore
Of course, no convention would be complete without a little shopping!
With more than 100 premium geek stalls and food trucks expected, visitors can look forward to browsing a variety of fandom-inspired offerings while enjoying something delicious between activities.
It’s also an opportunity to discover businesses and creators catering to the growing geek and pop culture community.
Whether you’re hunting for something to add to your collection or simply enjoying the atmosphere, the stalls are sure to be part of the fun.
A Celebration of Community
While the costumes, competitions and entertainment might grab the headlines, conventions like CONect are also about bringing people together.
For many fans, these events offer an opportunity to meet others who share their interests, discover new communities and celebrate the things they love without having to explain why they love them.
And with activities catering to different ages and interests, CONect is positioning itself as a weekend outing for both dedicated fans and curious newcomers.
