Jazz takes centre stage in Nelson Mandela Bay this March as the Gqeberha Legends Festival presents the second edition of Best of the Bay Jazz.

Set for Saturday, 14 March 2026, the event returns under the theme Syncopation & Rhythm — a nod to the layered beats and textured sound that define jazz at its core.
A platform for local talent
The Gqeberha Legends Festival continues its focus on spotlighting homegrown musicians, creating space for artists who live and work in Nelson Mandela Bay to perform on a larger stage.
Rather than relying on imported headliners, the showcase leans into the depth of talent already rooted in the city — strengthening local creative networks while giving audiences access to a diverse, high-quality live music experience.
A broad musical offering
This year’s programme promises a rich mix of sounds — from Motown soul and RnB to Afro Jazz and distinctly South African jazz influences. The evening is designed to move beyond one single style, reflecting the genre’s evolution and its ability to bridge generations and communities.
Among the performers expected to take the stage are:
- Nosisi Mavela
- Creshwell October
- Asanda Bam
- Lefa Mosea
- Mano Smith
- Miss Mona
- Curt Rix
- Ricky Moss
- Chapter Three
Hosting duties will be handled by well-known local MC and comedian Boeta B, bringing his signature energy to the night.
The event is presented in partnership with the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture.
